Coming up:
We are looking forward to many of our teammates coming into Nairobi for holiday during December. We are planning a special Christmas Party for those who will be here.
Pray that we will be able to encourage and minister to them. Pray for restful holidays for us and for our entire team, that we can all truly be renewed as we consider the wonder of Christmas!
Mark is also busy preparing for the team’s Spiritual Life Conference in January. This is a time for our missionaries to rest, receive spiritual encouragement, and reflect on their past year of ministry. Please pray for all the logistics (flights bringing folks in S Sudan, speakers, volunteers, etc) to go smoothly and for our hearts to be prepared in advance for the work of God’s Spirit.
Benjamin will be having a birthday on January 23rd. He will turn 12!
Mark is planning a two-week Chaplain visit into S. Sudan in February 2014. Pray for him to have a listening ear and a discerning heart. Pray for more opportunities to teach local pastors as well.
Finally, over-all, please pray for good-stewardship of our time. We are blessed to be able to pray for and care for missionaries on our own team. But we are often also approached by missionaries with other organizations who are in need of Chaplain/Pastoral care. This is a joy for us. However, we always want to keep our family time protected. For the Thanksgiving Holiday, we are planning a 3 day trip as a family to a place called Sunrise Acres. It is a small and inexpensive farm/guesthouse run by retired missionaries here in Kenya. This is our first “get-away” since coming to Nairobi 9 months ago. Pray for travel safety, rest, and good family time with the kids.
For those who are wondering how to send a Christmas card or package, please see MAILING AND CONTACT INFORMATION .
You all remain in our daily prayers, Happy Thanksgiving! Glad you can enjoy some special family time. Love and hugs!
