About Us

Mark and Stacey

We were married in 1993 and in 1996 Mark completed a four year enlistment in the Marine Corp and used his GI Bill to enroll in Seminary. By 2000, Mark was an ordained minister and graduated with a Masters degree in Divinity. That same year, we were commissioned as missionaries and left for Africa with our two little girls, Grace and Katie, ages 2 and 3. We lived in a rural, bush area, often in difficult circumstances -with the ever-present concerns of tropical disease and the discomforts of having very little electric power or running water. But our lives were made rich by the friendship of the Zambian people. During our time in Zambia, we used Chronological Bible Storying to share the Gospel among the peoples of the Western Province. We also learned some of the language and culture of the Mbunda tribe.

At the end of six years and the addition of two sons, Benjamin and Isaac, we returned to the US for Mark to serve as a military Chaplain with the Navy and Marines in both Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2010, we brought our son, Josiah, home from China.

After seven fulfilling years in the military ministry, God once again called us back to Africa, this time to fulfill the role of  Chaplain/Pastoral Care for the SIM South Sudan team. We served with this team for almost a year and a half, living in Nairobi, Kenya and traveling into South Sudan and Egypt. As challenging as this experience was, it gave us valuable insight into the lives of those who live in insecure areas touched by conflict, crime, and terrorism.

Today, Mark is a Chaplain with SIM, ministering to Gospel workers around the world. He offers pastoral care and coaching for individuals and teams, and helps equip and serve them in areas of conflict resolution, better communication, and mediation. Stacey serves as the Trauma Healing Coordinator for SIM International. Both are trained Master Facilitators with the Trauma Healing Institute of the American Bible Society, working globally to bring hope and healing to churches and communities through the ministry of God’s Word.

Our five children are Grace (20), Katie (18), Benjamin (15), Josiah (13), and Isaac (12).
